Mineral Therapy for Allergic Rhinitis
In many countries such as Canada, allergy sufferers often experience a difficult time during pollen season with annoying symptoms such as non-stop sneezes. While pollen allergies are less common in Hong Kong, there are other causes of allergic rhinitis (nasal allergies), such as foods, dust mites, or animal hair etc.
When our immune system detects a suspicious danger, it releases a large amount of antibodies to defend against potential attackers. Pollens, dust mites, saliva residue on animal hair can trick the immune system into thinking they are harmful pathogens, causing the body to overreact and produce different symptoms from sneezing to runny nose, hives, watery eyes, itchy eyes, and even difficulty breathing. The so-called immediate (allergic) response is usually the most common and severe type of allergy.
Lifestyle, stress, dietary habits, environmental factors, air quality, etc. can all exacerbate the immune system's reaction, resulting in allergy symptoms.
Traditional treatments, such as "desensitization therapy," aims to gradually help the body adapt to allergens, thereby reducing the immune system's reaction. Another treatment option is the use of antihistamines. They quickly alleviate the allergic reaction, but common side effects are drowsiness and fatigue.
Mineral therapy (aka Dr. Schuessler’s Tissue Salts) can provide relief for both acute and chronic symptoms but without the side effects.
Acute symptoms: According to Dr. Schuessler's recommendation, No.3 Ferrum phosphate 12X and No.8 Sodium chloride 6X can significantly improve severe sneezing. Author's Tips: Dissolve 1 tablet of No.3 and No.8 alternately in the mouth every 5-10 minutes. That is, No.3 > No.8 > No.3 > No.8, and so on. After symptoms improve, reduce the dosage to 1-2 times per hour and gradually decrease to 3-4 times per day.
Chronic symptoms: The aim of a holistic treatment is to bring the allergy into remission, if possible, permanently. Thus, it is vital to look for deeper cause of the problems and equalise imbalances in the body. Schüssler Tissue Salts are able to give the cells fine impulses through minute doses, so that they are capable to optimally absorb and utilise the minerals. This way the organism’s self-regulation gets activated, the cell metabolism can get back into balance.
Eighty percent of the immune system is in the intestines. Therefore, whether the intestinal microbiome is balanced has a profound impact on the immune system.
Clinical science of biochemical therapy Lactic acid bacteria, combined with a diet rich in minerals and fibre, can greatly improve allergy symptoms. Combining the following methods to strengthen gut health is very effective. Morning: No.10 Sodium sulfate 6X Noon: No.4 Potassium chloride 6X Evening: No.9 Sodium phosphate 6X This combination has an anti-inflammatory effect and regulates acid-base balance. It is an ideal choice to strengthen the intestine before the start of the allergy season.
The author stresses that allergic symptoms should always be taken seriously and must be treated to avoid the development of a chronic disease in the long term. He further points out, that an untreated allergy can cause the so-called allergic march. The so-called "allergy march" is a clinical observation of childhood allergies. Research has found that the progression of childhood allergies is like a march, continuously playing out during the child's growth process. For example, the first movement is eczema, then nasal allergies, and then develops into asthma, and so on. Hence it is essential to treat allergies timely and with professional support.
